The Women of Color Arts Festival

March 5-8, 2020

The Women of Color Arts Festival took place in the Arts District coinciding with First Friday festivities, March 5th - 8th. It was an opportunity to celebrate Las Vegas’s Womxn of Color artists of all disciplines along with the centennial of women getting the right to vote, on the heels of Black History month and with International Women's Day! The event was organized by arts leadership: Elizabeth Nelson, Fawn Douglas, Ashanti McGee and Jennifer Klevin. 

 

The Festival hosted an array of events: a galleried exhibit, “Art of Us,” at the Arts Factory Warhol Loft featuring all Women of Color Department of Art Faculty members from UNLV; free community workshops in visual art, dance, storytelling, zine making and more; live theater performances of Men On Boats at Vegas Theatre Company; a Jazz Brunch hosted by Skye Dee Miles followed by a panel discussion on how to move forward as a community.

  • Closing Panel discussion, “Color Within the Lines” with Anais Thomassin, Erica Vitale, Zarinah Washington, Lance Smith, Dr. Erika Abad among others at the Vegas Theatre Company
