Opening Reception
Jan. 26, 2024, Friday, 5 - 8pm
Join us for the Opening Reception for Forward -- a Weaving Our Cultures exhibit that showcases the art of Latina, Native American, African American, and Asian American women, as they answer the question: What does the future looks like?
Through reflecting on tumultuous pasts, these women of color explore the possibilities of the future and what lies ahead. Learning from their cultures and the experiences of those who have come before them, the artists move the future forward through painting, photography, and other mixed mediums.
Curated by Sapira Chuek, Fawn Douglas, and Ashanti McGee.
Free admission.
Donations accepted through IndigenousAF

The Nuwu Art Gallery + Community Center (NAGCC) is a POC-owned art and activism space located at 1331 S. Maryland Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89104 (Purple building). Over the past 4 years, we've worked hard to bring the NAGCC to the Las Vegas public for all to enjoy. Our first official exhibition, Beginnings, softly-opened in Fall 2022 and featured works by the Nuwu Art Collective. We welcomed Justin Favela's Fantasía/Fantasy to a successful opening with hundreds of visitors in Spring 2023.
The Nuwu Art Collective also showed Bridges in 2023, which included a community art exhibition. Since then, we have had Geovany Uranda, Cesar Piedra, and Scrambled Eggs curate the amazing Hija/e/o/e(s) de Su--. And currently we have our first all-woman exhibition with Forward -- a Weaving Our Cultures art exhibition.
Please check back for free workshops and class schedule, which will be posted soon for the Spring 2024 season!
